Gujarat Temples

Gujarat temples are a haven for devotees and a home for many gods and goddesses. The state is also known as the ‘Holy Land’ by virtue of presence of hordes of temples. Among the temples in Gujarat, the Akshardham temple in the capital city Gandhinagar dedicated to Lord Swaminarayan is the largest of the Gujarat temples and most famous temples Gujarat. Gujarat has been the center place for the famed Indus Valley Civilization.

Of the most important places of tourist interest are the Lakhota Fort, Kotha Bastion, Willington Crescent, Solarium, Jamsaheb’s Palace, Rozi and Bedi ports. The Rani Udayamati vav (a step well) and the Sahastralinga Lake are notable places to see in Jamnagar. Pavagadh, deemed to be a part of the Himalayas, is the most popular hill resort and attracts great many tourists. Jama Masjid in Champaner located at the foot hills of Pavangadh is a must-see mosque in Gujarat. Besides Pavangadh, Saputara is another famous hill resort located right on top of the second highest plateau in the Sahyadri range and amidst thick forests.

The city of Surat an important tourist destination, is considered to be a gold mine for textile industry and handicrafts like Zari—threadwork in gold and silver—diamond cutting and polishing among many others.
